Petition to block Donald Trump from the UK hits 400,000 signatures

By: Editor

A petition to block Donald Trump from entering the UK has reached 400,000 signatures, meaning the government will respond and it has to be considered by parliament for debate.  The description of the petition reads:

The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK. If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the 'unacceptable behaviour' criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful.

The petition comes in response to Trump, who is running for the Republican nomination to fight the upcoming US presidential election, remarking that Muslims should be banned from entering the USA - a policy that has been widely criticised in and outside the states.

Of those who voted in our twitter poll, 59% agreed that he should be blocked from the UK whereas 41% said he should not be.

  1. People have failed to understand one key issue: he is a symbol of a growing anti-Muslim movement. For example, his fellow candidates such as Ted Cruz and Ben Carson are just as anti-Muslim as him.
