UJS Rejects Anti-NUS Motion and Will Keep Working Relationship

The UJS has rejected a motion which would have seen the union suspend its working relationship with the NUS.  The motion proposed the UJS stop working with the NUS due to what it saw as antisemetic remarks made by incumbent president Malia Bouattia.

Izzy Lenga, who is a member of the UJS and also sits on the NUS National Executive Committee, responded to the vote by saying "We might not have voted to stop engagement with NUS, but that doesnt mean that issues can still be brushed under the carpet... Jewish students voted to fight from the inside, not to accept the status quo within NUS".

The FXU (Falmouth & Exeter Students' Union) President for student experience tweeted: "really hope @MaliaBouattia & the whole of @nusuk FTO leadership reflect on the fact that a motion like that even went to #UJSConference".

However, a motion did pass which commits UJS to continue to oppose BDS in all forms ('Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions' against Israel).

UJS also elected a new president, Joshua Holt.
