Britons Don't See International Students as Immigrants, ComRes Poll Finds

A survey conducted by ComRes for Universities UK has found that just 24% of British adults see international students studying in the UK as immigrants.  A large majority, 87%, said they would like to see the same number or more international students studying in the UK.

The survey showed that there was little discrepancy between Leave and Remain voters; just 25% of Leave voters see international students as immigrants.  For Remain the number was 23%.

The Chief Executive of Universities UK, which describes itself as 'the voice of universities, said:
“These findings are a clear indication that any new policies aimed at lowering net migration figures by reducing the number of overseas students will not address public concerns over immigration."
