A survey conducted by ComRes for Universities UK has found that just 24% of British adults see international students studying in the UK as immigrants. A large majority, 87%, said they would like to see the same number or more international students studying in the UK.
The survey showed that there was little discrepancy between Leave and Remain voters; just 25% of Leave voters see international students as immigrants. For Remain the number was 23%.
The Chief Executive of Universities UK, which describes itself as 'the voice of universities, said:
